RUNIN Seminar: Universities, innovation and regions: Reflections from European cases

November 9, 2022 @ 8:30 am - 1:00 pm

Invited participants and guests, please be welcomed to a RUNIN Seminar in Bergen.

The seminar will take place at HVL’s facilities at Campus Kronstad, seminar room C230. Please find a detailed agenda for the half day further down on this page.

SUMMARY

With the increasing importance of knowledge economy, universities are expected to play a pivotal role in innovation and development of regions. Meanwhile, universities have responded by enlarging their portfolio with the third mission and engaging in impactful research, education and innovation activities. However, the role of universities in regional innovation and development processes is multi-faceted and plays out differently across various institutional contexts.

The Role of Universities in Innovation and Regional Development (RUNIN) is the topic of a Horizon 2020 MSCA Innovative Training Network of 14 Early-Career Researchers across seven universities and nine regional development agencies in Europe from 2016 to 2021. The 14 PhD projects include both the perspective of universities as well as that of the regions, creating a broad body of new knowledge on the relationship between them.

Even though RUNIN has officially ended, RUNIN researchers received additional funding from The Research Council of Norway to disseminate its results further in Norway. The dissemination project, titled “Promoting RUNIN in Norway”, invites you to a workshop on 9th November, 08:30 – 13:00 with a mix of presentations followed by a panel debate to learn about the results of the project and their implications for innovation, regional development and higher education policy.

The seminar will take place at HVL Campus Kronstad, seminar room C230, from 9:00 to 12:30, with lunch from 12:30.
