Background
David Charles is Professor of Enterprise and Innovation at Newcastle Business School, Northumbria University, which he joined in February 2018 from Lincoln where he was deputy head of the Business School. David led the RUNIN activities at Lincoln and remains closely involved with the project and is a supervisor for the two ESRs there as a visiting professor. David is also a visiting professor at Tampere University and Anglia Ruskin University. David’s PhD was in economic geography at Newcastle University on the location of corporate R&D activity and since then he has mainly worked on regional innovation policy, innovation management, universities and their regional engagement and urban issues.
